Ailsa Mellor was born in Scotland and grew up in London.

She studied English Literature and Public Media at the University of Leeds and has worked as a music journalist and government speechwriter.

During her time as a music journalist, Ailsa interviewed Beverley Knight; Karl Bartos (formerly of Kraftwerk); the jazz and gospel singer, Lizz Wright; Goldfrapp; Keith Urban; a-ha; Depeche Mode and Groove Armada among others.

Ailsa’s interest in Chinese medicine and the link between complementary therapies and wellbeing led her to study reflexology in 2005. She qualified in 2007 and practices when she can.

She is currently working on her second novel.

Her first novel, From West Yorkshire to East Berlin, is out now.
